From the book reviews:
“This book … really hits the mark for a basic introduction to Java programming. … This reviewer was very impressed with the organization of the topics and the incremental way that the presented concepts build upon each other. This is a very good resource for beginning Java programmers, and those who know any other programming language will find it a breeze to read. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Book is great for beginners
By Jacob
Book is great for beginners, except for the first chapters. The book is overwhelming at first and takes reviewing at later points of the book to understand why programmers need to do some things in Java. Otherwise it's a great book for beginners.
Book's physical quality is great as well.
